Alexander Kilian - Reflections

Alexander Kilian was the winner of the Special Prize of the OPEN STRINGS young talent competition in 2002. “Reflections” is his debut album, and one would never think that the guitarist playing is 17 years old. The vibrant and explosive sonority and the interpretational concentration of the reading are fully mature. Alexander Kilian is a student of Zaza Miminoshvili, the guitarist of the Georgian world music duo “The Shin”. He has no qualms about exploring new frontiers and taps classical music (e.g. Debussy or Bach) and the realm of jazz for his repertoire (Chick Corea, John McLaughlin). And in the spaces between, we hear scales with oriental hues, rapid cascades of notes, or lyrical arpeggios. “Reflections” represents a musical adventure full of fantasy and creativity, played by a young guitarist with enormous potential, one who already now has a remarkably individual voice.
