What do two friends like Duck Baker and Stefan Grossman - who are also world-class fingerpickers - do when they are bored in winter in the middle of snow, snow, and more snow? They record an album together. And what music would be more appropriate on such occasions than the blues? That's right, country blues!
Baker and Grossman quickly rent a studio and produce Northern Skies, Southern Blues, such a fantastically relaxed, contagiously happy guitar blues CD that the listener wants to immediately light the fireplace and open that long-cherished, twelve-year-old bottle of Tennessee whiskey. Close your eyes while taking a swallow of the elegant malt - but don't overdo it! - and you can see the snow gently falling on Virginia and Big Bill Broonzy with his guitar, trudging through the fields in high spirits.
And if you listen well between the 14 tracks, you can hear the two performers laughing - very quietly, it goes without saying!
