Attila Zoller and Helmut Kagerer met in 1988 in Munich at the “Blue Note” jazz club. It was the beginning of a long-standing friendship and musical cooperation. With their guitar duo, launched in the 1990s, they toured Europe and the USA. The two musicians can be identified thanks to their highly individual “signal tone” on the guitar, which is best described as “warm and singing”. The colorful and imaginatively varied motives of the collective improvisation on “Common Language”, mostly on compositions by Zoller, was recorded by the Bavarian Radio in its Nuremberg studios in 1995. The two solo works represent an atmospheric change – “’Round Midnight“ was recorded live at the duo’s last concert in 1998 in New York’s Zinc Bar and “Dreambells“, live recorded at Neuburg a.d. Donau - each work reveals a different technical approach to the solo guitar.
