Claus Boesser-Ferrari & Adax Dörsam - Land des Lächelns

The two guitarists, Claus Boesser-Ferrari and Adax Dörsam adapted Franz Lehàr's operetta Land of Smiles as a basis for a musical cooperation.

Their approach is one filled with respect, yet it is very creative and imaginative. Arias such as "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz," or "Immer nur lächeln" are interpreted in a unique style that reveals a personal touch. At times, the percussive acoustic guitar and the roaring E-guitar at times work together congenially, ultimately creating in a noise explosion – or they switch over suddenly to a gentle tenor guitar register to generate heavenly fields of sound.
The dynamics of the recordings have been profoundly explored. The orchestra, choir and solo voices of the original score have been reduced for the two guitars in a bold, virtuosic and imaginative manner, yet without affecting the musical material. On the contrary: the musical essence of the arias has even more power at times.

Boesser-Ferrari and Dörsam are two experienced virtuosos with international scope. They have managed to extract some brand new musical expression from the Lehàr operetta using various acoustic and electric guitars.
