BIOGRAPHIE
„AHIMSA“ in Sanskrit denotes non-violence, compassion,
love and reverence for all beings and every form of life.
Ahimsa started their successful journey on Vijayadasami
Day in 1999. Ahimsa is a unique and deep fusion between
Western and Indian musical art. Five brilliant musicians
– two different worlds – one language.
The virtuous and soulful violin of S. Radhakrishna
(Pt Ravi Shankar, Jonas Hellborg) merges with the
innovative acoustic/electric guitars of Matthias Müller (L.
Subramaniam) and the 6-String Bass of Armin Metz (Talvin
Singh); while being driven on by the highest
developed art of percussion from both Southern
(carnatic) and Northern (hindustani) India: on tabla Udai
Mazumdar (Hariprasad Chaurasia, Siv Kumar Sharma, Paul
Giger) and on Mrudangam and Ganjira R.Yogaraja
(L. Subramaniam, Yehudi Menuhin).
“... elaborated unisono melodies and insane tempo with
an easiness ... any progressive-metal band would go pale
... world music on world class level.”
(Hildesheimer Allgemeine, July 2003)
“viruous sound masters, intensive soundscapes, tight, ‘phase shifted’ rhythmical structures ... “
(FLZ, May 2003)
“true masters ... very lively, light and unbelievable powerful
... ther music moved the devotedly listening crowd. ...
extraordinary musical impetus ... “
(Süddeutsche Zeitung, October 2002)
