BIOGRAPHIE Fingerstyle Jazz Manfred Dierkes ist ein Archtop-Fingerstylist, der die gesamte Jazz-Szene in blankes Erstaunen versetzt hat. Kommt da doch ein junger Gitarrist (* 1966) und debutiert mit einer CD, die sich vor den Veröffentlichungen der Meister des Genres wie Joe Pass oder Martin Taylor keinesfalls verstecken muss. Auf „It´s About Time“ ist Fingerstyle-Jazz allerhöchster Güte zu hören. Die „orchestrale“ Spielweise von Manfred Dierkes verbindet heftig swingende Walking-Bass-Linien mit dichten Akkorden, klassischen Tremoli und betörend schönen Improvisationen. Jenseits aller Fingerfertigkeit ist seine Musik von höchster Kunstfertigkeit und eine Hommage sowohl an die Klassiker des Jazz der letzten 50 Jahre wie an das Instrument „Archtop-Jazz-Gitarre“ selbst. Dass Manfred Dierkes nicht nur ein begnadeter Interpret, sondern auch ein talentierter Komponist ist, beweisen die insgesamt sechs Eigenkompositionen auf „It´s About Time", die sich nahtlos in den Reigen der Standards einfügen. Tatsächlich ist es höchste Zeit, dass dieser Gitarrist in weiteren Kreisen bekannt wird. Dierkes könnte derjenige sein, der die Vorarbeit seiner Kollegen im Bereich solistische Fingerstyle-Jazzgitarre perfektioniert und zu neuen Höhepunkten führt. Manfred Dierkes ist seit 1987 fester Bestandteil der Berliner Jazz-Szene und hat sich vor allem als Begleiter von Sängerinnen und als Solo-Künstler einem wohlklingenden Namen erspielt. Seine Spezialität ist das Ausloten aller Möglichkeiten, die das Fingerstyle-Jazzgitarren-Konzept zu bieten hat. Das zeigt auch seine aktuelle CD „Caldera“, die er zusammen mit Mario Würzebesser (Schlagzeug) und Michael Waterstradt (Kontrabass) eingespielt hat. |

Indeed, here is a kid guitarist (b. 1966) who debuted with a CD that holds its own with releases by the masters of the genre such as Joe Pass and Martin Taylor. “It´s About Time” brings top quality fingerstyle jazz to the fore. The “orchestral” technique of Manfred Dierkes connects hearty, swinging walking basses with thick chords, classical tremolos and enchantingly beautiful improvisations. Above and beyond the polished technique, his music is of the greatest . His music, with its perfect balance of intellect and emotion, is always a sensual experience for his public, it is elegant, imaginative and inspiring, be that in concert or when coming from the living-room CD player. His new CD, “Open Strings”, once again gives evidence of his wealth of ideas and his musical maturity. The serene running flow of his music arises from many sources, and so we can let ourselves be carried a little by its power on the way to our own horizon. artistry and represents a homage to the classics of jazz from the past fifty years and to the instrument itself, the “archtop jazz guitar”. The six own compositions that fit seamlessly into the series of standards on “It´s About Time” prove that Manfred Dierkes is not only a gifted interpreter, but a talented composer as well. Dierkes could become the one to perfection the preliminary work of his colleagues in the soloist fingerstyle jazz realm and carry it to new heights. Manfred Dierkes has been a fixed element in the Berlin jazz scene since 1987. He has played his name to fame as an accompanist for singers and as a solo artist. His specialty is the exploration of all possibilities offered by fingerstyle jazz.
