Irgendwo im Dreieck Leo Kottke - John Renbourn - Alex DeGrassi ist der Stil von Thomas Kleemaier angesiedelt. Wie so viele andere Gitarristen kam der gebürtige Bayer durch Leo Kottke zur akustischen Gitarre und durch Stefan Grossman zum Blues. Bald wurde ihm aber das kreative Korsett des Blues zu eng und er entwickelte abseits ausgetretener Pfade seinen eigenen Stil. Seine musikalischen Bilder und Erzählungen, von gefühlvollen Balladen bis zu stürmischen up-tempo-Stücken vereinen sowohl klassische und irische wie auch bluesige Elemente. Thomas Kleemaiers natürliche und humorvolle Art im Umgang mit dem Publikum machen seine Konzerte über die Musik hinaus zu einem Erlebnis. Musiker wie Beppe Gambetta, Woody Mann, Tim Sparks und andere schätzen seine instrumentale Versiertheit und holten ihn zu gemeinsamen Auftritten.

The style of Thomas Kleemaier lies somewhere within an imaginary triangle formed by Leo Kottke, John Renbourn and Alex DeGrassi. Like many guitar players Bavarian-born Thomas was drawn to acoustic guitar by the example of Leo Kottke und to the Blues via Stefan Grossman. However the gentle straitjacket of unadultered Blues soon began to feel restrictive and, by experimentation and the exploration of less frequented by-ways he set about developing his own individual style.
His sound-pictures and musical narratives effortlessly combine Irish, Blues and Classical elements, from soulful ballads to stormy, up-tempo numbers; while his relaxed, humorous stage presence instantly captures an audience, compliments the music, and rounds off each concert`s unique atmosphere.
Musicians of the calibre of Beppe Gambetta, Alex DeGrassi, Tim Sparks, Woody Mann and others have long respected Kleemaier`s musical accomplishments and have been happy to share a stage with him.
