He was born in Milan on 1960. He began to play the Guitar at the
age of 10. When he was 21, he started to play as a soloist with different
group and different musical. At the age of 25 he got the degree of
classical guitar. At 29 year old He started as a purist of the sound
with his first album "BhaktaPriya"(BMG'89), he continued
exploring free polyethnic expressions going through the sonority of
"Terra" (BMG '94), and arrives at the end at "Spirali",characterized
by new technologies applied to the guitar and produced in 1999 by
the Italian musician Mauro Pagani (PFM). The last work of Lupi is
"Shorts", a solist album by Acoustic Music Records.
The search of Lupi in the Iast years went beyond the classical rules,
using new expressive forms (sequencer and guitar-synth) anaging to
create an evocative atmosphere and developing to the utmost the timbrical
possibilities of each instrument and percussion rhythms using the
body of guitar. This peculiarity is another adjustment for the texts
based on the use of the "sequencer", with which, in the
real time, he can create "Loop" with the guitar which composes
effective "Groove" on which he can represent his themes.
"...An 'artistic creative' experience which,
like a spiral in constant movement,
once arrived at the top and seemingly ended,
necessarily transforms it self into a new beginning,
maintaining a clear link of contact with Poetry."

INFO
Whiter Shade Of Pale“ im seltenen Tuning E–A–E–F#–B–E.
„Shorts” is an acoustic guitar album of unbelievable
clarity and melodic power. Walter Lupi has long assimilated the music
of his role models and woven it into a personal style revealing elements
of folk music, jazz and “West Coast finger style”. What
is remarkable is his use of „groove techniques” such as
tapping and percussion, which he performs on the body of his Larrivée
guitar. Walter Lupi integrates this manner of playing seamlessly and
with great musicality in his poetic acoustic guitar performance, which
thereby becomes extremely multi-faceted and „multidimensional”.
A good example of how what one might have thought was a well-known
piece achieves new sheen in the sonorous world of Walter Lupi is his
version of „A Whiter Shade Of Pale“ in the rare E–A–E–F#–B–E
tuning.

eingespielt.“ (ds, Gitarre und Bass, 3/01)
„... a specialist for poetic moods. His album ‘Shorts‘
offers a pleasant lively mix of folk and jazz and is recorded with
impeccable technique and an airy steel string sound.“ (ds, Gitarre
