Dort wo sich die Leichtigkeit und der exotische Charme brasilianischer
Musik mit der rhythmischen Spannung des Flamenco trifft, entsteht
der Raum, in dem die beiden kreativen Köpfe von Matamá
sich bewegen. Gitarre, Stimme und Perkussion bilden eine gleichberechtigte,
komplexe musikalische Einheit.
Die Suche nach neuen Klangformen sowie die Gratwanderung zwischen
verschiedenen ethnischen Stilen ist charakteristisch für die
künstlerische Arbeit von Matamá. Sie soll den Zuhörer
mit auf eine Reise nehmen, auf der die Einflüsse verschiedener
Kulturen ebenso wie die Einflüsse unterschiedlicher musikalischer
Charaktere in einer dichten, spannungsreichen Performance verschmelzen.
Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit unterschiedlichen Besetzungen (Perkussion,
Bass, Marimba, Kalimba, Trompete und Flügelhorn) wird ihre musikalische
Reise noch farbenfroher und stimmungsvoller. Ihr Schwerpunkt Gitarre,
Stimme und Perkussion bildet dabei den virtuosen „Motor“
der rhythmischen Präsenz von Matamá.
Where the light and exotic charm of Brazilian music meets the rhythmic
tension of flamenco, there arises a space in which the two of us,
Matamá, move. Guitar, voice and percussion form an equal and
complex unit of music.
Searching for new forms of sounds as well as moving between different
ethnic styles characterises the art of Matamá. This music takes
its listener on a journey where influences of various cultures and
those of various musical characters melt into a rich, exciting performance.
While working with different casts (percussion, bass, marimba, trumpet
and horn) the musical journey gets even more colourful and atmospheric.
Our focus on guitar, vocals and percussion creates the virtuous "machine"
of Matamá's rhythmic presence. |

Leichtigkeit und Charme brasilianischer Musik treffen auf die rhythmische
Spannung des Flamenco: Genau an dieser Schnittstelle ist der kreative
Raum, in dem die Musik des Trios Matamá entsteht. Matamá
– das ist eine Kombination von Flamenco, Brasil, Latin und afrikanischen

The lightness and charm of Brazilian music collide with the rhythmic
excitement of the flamenco: The music of the Matamá trio is
born at that juncture. Matamá is a combination of flamenco,
Brazilian, Latin and African elements, this is imaginative music creating
a wonderfully feathery atmosphere over driving rhythms. Matamá
is three musicians, André Krikula (guitar, vocals), Juan Rodríguez
