Was der Italiener Stefano Mirandola den 6 Nylonsaiten seiner Gitarren entlockt wird so manchen Kenner in Erstaunen versetzen. Der klassisch vorgebildete Virtuose lässt Elemente des Jazz, des Flamenco und der brasilianischen Musik in einen unverwechselbaren Personalstil einfließen. Mirandola versteht es mit neu entwickelten Spieltechniken intensive impressionistische Stimmungsbilder zu entwerfen. Seine Sprache ist melodiös und bisweilen liedhaft. Die wenigen Coverversionen erweisen ihn auch als phantasiereichen Arrangeur. Chick Coreas „La Fiesta“, ein Klassiker des Jazzrepertoires, hat selten spanischer geklungen und Ernesto Nazareths „Odeon“ ist einer jener wunderbar leichten, aber nicht leicht zu spielenden Choros Brasiliens, die zum Tanz laden. Mirandola erweist Bach seine Referenz und ist auch um keltisch inspirierte Klänge nicht verlegen. Zeit ist ein kostbares Gut – mit Stefano Mirandolas deutscher Debut-CD besteht keinerlei Gefahr, sie zu vergeuden.

In 1972, at age 12, began studying classical guitar, to which he added jazz after seminars with Jim Hall, Joe Dorio and Pat Metheny, among others. In subsequent years, the artist has explored in depth finger-picking, Brazilian and Flamenco traditions.
The musical career started in 1974 with rock and fusion groups in his native Bologna. Later he played in and toured Europe with jazz groups, for which he composed numerous pieces.
In 1991 he formed, with Guido Premuda, the "Acoustic Guitar Duo", proposing an original repertoire of compositions based on both nylon and metal string sounds. In 1997 the duo produced the CD "Vagogirando".
Since 1992 Mirandola has performed as a soloist as well, with original compositions and arrangements, incorporating elements of classical, jazz, flamenco, South American and ethnic music. Experimentation with new original guitar techniques has contributed to a varied repertoire with atmospheres ranging from sweet to rhythmic.
In 2003-2005 the German label Acoustic Music Records released his solo CD "Oltre il Mare". Besides the activity as soloist currently he plays in formation duo with Enrico Guerzoni (cello) and in duo with Orio Cenacchi (percussions).

This Italian musician is a nylon string acoustic guitarist, whose atmospheric repertoire ranges from sweet melancholy to driving rhythms. After beginning with classical music, Mirandola studied with US jazz stars such as Pat Metheny and Jim Hall, and he concertized with the “Acoustic Guitar Duo” at festivals throughout Europe. Nowadays, Mirandola moves in the world of flamenco and Brazilian music. His broad sense of imagination is evidenced by 11 own compositions on “Oltre il mare” and an original version of Chick Corea’s classic “La Fiesta”. Stefano Mirandola creates an organic amalgamation of sound from classical, jazz, flamenco, Brazilian and ethnic music based on a fully developed technique and a natural joy at experimenting with new sounds.
