„Die akustische Gitarre ist das, was mir am meisten Spaß macht. Ich liebe ihre natürliche Dynamik und die Anforderung, ganz allein mit dem Instrument den Klang machen zu müssen.“ Michael Sagmeister, profilierter deutscher Jazzgitarrist, hat die Konsequenz aus diesem Bekenntnis gezogen und 1998 bei Acoustic Music seine erste rein akustische CD veröffentlicht. „Here And Now“ läßt die ökonomische und gereifte Seite eines Musikers zum Vorschein kommen, der in den 80er Jahren ob seiner rasanten Technik noch als Jazzgitarren-Wunderkind gehandelt wurde. Voller Ruhe und Ausgeglichenheit spielt er mit kultiviertem Ton und eigenständiger Stimme. Er schafft Raum und läßt die Musik atmen. Das besonders fruchtbare Zusammenspiel mit Dave Samuels an den Mallets sorgt für eine eindringliche Spannung, die diese CD bei aller kammermusikalischen Intimität eine gelassene Energie ausstrahlen läßt.
Sagmeister entstammt dem Frankfurter Jazz-Zirkel und hat sich mittlerweile eine internationale Reputation erspielt. Einer der Höhepunkte seiner musikalischen Laufbahn – auch auf persönlicher Ebene – war ein gemeinsames Konzert mit seinem großen Idol Pat Martino beim deutschen Jazzfestival. Martino, stilbildende Jazz-Legende mit tragischem Lebenslauf, hatte seit Ende der 60er Jahre abgelehnt, mit einem zweiten Gitarristen zu arbeiten. Sagmeisters zweites Werk bei Acoustic Music ist die höchst gelungene Duoaufnahme „Binary“ mit Pianist Christoph Spendel. Die beiden sind ein traumhaftes Gespann und spielen sich voller Inspiration durch ein Repertoire aus Standards und Eigenkompositionen. Sie führen äußerst gehaltvolle Dialoge, die aus tiefstem musikalischen wie menschlichen Verständnis resultieren. Bemerkenswert ist auch die klangliche Qualität dieser Aufnahme, die höchsten Ansprüchen gerecht wird. Die Kombination von Sagmeisters Akustik- und Jazzgitarren mit Spendels Flügel ist delikat und unterstützt die Ausdruckstiefe dieser beiden Weltklasse-Musiker.

“The acoustic guitar is what I enjoy most. I love its natural dynamics and the challenge of having to produce the sound just with the instrument alone.” Michael Sagmeister, a prominent German jazz guitarist, faced the consequences of this admission and came out with his first acoustic CD in 1998 at Acoustic Music. “Here and Now” brings the economical and mature side of a musician to the fore, a musician who was still treated as a jazz guitar wunderkind in the 1980s owing to his striking technique. He is filled with calm and balance when he plays, generating a sophisticated tone and an individual voice. He creates space and lets the music breathe. The especially fertile session with Dave Samuels playing mallets produces a penetrating excitement, which gives this CD a serene energy in spite of its chamber-like intimacy. Sagmeister comes from the Frankfurt jazz circle and has by now played his way up to international fame.
One of the high points of his musical career was his joint concert with his great idol Pat Martino at the German Jazz Festival. Martino, a style-shaping jazz legend with a tragic life, had refused to work together with a second guitarist ever since the end of the 1960s. Sagmeister's second opus at Acoustic Music is the highly successful duo recording “Binary” with pianist Christoph Spendel. The two musicians are a superb pairing, who play their way – with total inspiration – through a repertoire consisting of standards and own compositions. They conduct very rich dialogs, the outcome of the deepest musical and human understanding. Of note, too, is the sound quality of this recording, which will meet the highest expectations. The combination of Sagmeister's acoustic and jazz guitars together with Spendel's grand is very fine and assists the depth of expression of these two world-class musicians.

Nun, eine CD voll wunderbar leichter Musik zwischen Jazz, Bossa Nova und Pop. Die beiden sind seit über zwanzig Jahren befreundet und haben bereits „Primo Passo", ihre erste CD, zusammen produziert. Camillo D´Anconas mediterranes Temperament und Sagmeisters mal explosive, mal einschmeichelnde Gitarre gehen eine harmonische Verbindung ein. Mit von der Partie sind u.a. Sagmeisters langjährige Weggefährten Michael Küttner, Thomas Heidepriem und Christoph Spendel.
You may wonder what happens when the Italian actor and singer Camillo D´Ancona and the German jazz guitarist Michael Sagmeister team up. Well, the result is a CD full of wonderfully light music fluctuating between jazz, bossa nova and pop. These two men have been friends for over 20 years and have already produced their first CD together, „Primo Passo.” Camillo D´Ancona’s Mediterranean temperament and Sagmeister’s at times explosive, at times ingratiating guitar create a harmonic connection. On the team, too, are amongst others, Sagmeister’s long-standing companions Michael Küttner, Thomas Heidepriem and Christoph Spendel.
