BIOGRAPHIE

Emiel van Dijk is a young Dutch guitarist with all the stuff to become one of the more important European guitarists. The musical inspiration does cross boundaries: pop, classical, jazz, world music – nothing seems to be alien to this Dutch artist. Emiel van Dijk easily switches from Cuban montunos, passionate Mediterranean moods, swinging bass lines and Brazilian grooves. The fact that he composed the majority of the cuts on this CD also proves him to be a great talent. Emiel van Dijk studied classical and jazz guitar at the Brabants Conservatory in Tilburg (the Netherlands) and attended master classes with internationally renowned musicians.
He graduated cum laude in 1997 for his classical concert degree.

He performs solo on nylon, steel and 12-string guitars and has a duo with the percussionist Onno Witte. He writes his monthly workshop column ‘Global Strings’ in the Dutch guitar magazine ‘Gitaar Plus’. In 2000 he published his debut CD 'Blueprint' and in 2001 his second CD 'Across the Borders' was published by 'Acoustic Music Records'.

Emiel van Dijk ist ein junger holländischer Musiker, der zu einem der wichtigen euro-päischen Gitarristen heranwachsen könnte. Seine musikalischen Einflüsse sind grenzüberschreitend: Pop, Klassik, Jazz und World-Music verschmelzen zu einem individuellen Stil, der keine Berührungsängste kennt. Für Emiel van Dijk ist es ein Leichtes, zwischen kubanischen Montunos, mediterranen Stimmungen, swingenden Bass-Linien und brasilianischen Grooves zu wechseln. Darüber hinaus ist sein kompositorisches Talent nicht zu überhören.
