GUITAR BAZAAR is particularly influenced by the music of the Balkans, in terms of both harmony and rhythm. And once again, a suite by a "classical" composer has been included: Bela Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances.
Tim Sparks - selected as the National Fingerpicking Champion in the USA in 1993 and also a columnist for Guitar Player Magazine - has concerned himself with the music of the Balkans like hardly anyone else. At the same time, he is a master of classical guitar technique and an outstanding jazz guitarist as well.
Although his compositions are influenced by various styles, the personal touch of Tim Sparks can be recognized time and again in the way he plays.
For some of the pieces on GUITAR BAZAAR, Tim invited a few friends to join him: Jim Price - violin, Tim O'Keefe - percussion, harmonica, Yanaris Asimakes - bouzouki and Mark Stillmann - accordion.
