On his new CD, Claus Boesser-Ferrari has recycled pivotal elements of his personal biogaphy into an exciting musical journey: We encounter ancient hymns, cowboy film themes, Renaissance folk songs, theatrical soundtracks and acoustic noise-rock grooves, we run into Mahler, Weill, Eisler - and we hear Fred Frith reciting Schiller's poetry. With this CD, the acoustic guitar embarks on a journey through shimmering rhythmical carpets of sound which takes it far beyond its natural limitations. The trip leads from awkward sound sculptures to lyrical and wonderfully kitsch Western landscapes, through highly dynamic trash folk explosions to delicate classical-sounding miniatures. Once again, Boesser-Ferrari shows that he is not only a wanderer between stylistic worlds, but also an artist with the ability to impress his own identity and unmistakeable sound onto pieces from a bygone age and bring them firmly into the present day.
