His technique is without fault, the notes just magically sound from his fingers and come to delight our ears. What makes the recording special is the authentic sound, which is due to the instrument he uses: The Cologne guitar builder Bernhard Kresse made copies of original 19th-century instruments for Wagner, a concert guitar in E and a G guitar tuned in thirds. The sound of these unusual instruments is wonderfully clear and precisely recorded.
