Peter Green is a legend, hardly any British blues guitarist has influenced subsequent generations of guitarists with his subtle style like the founder of the ‘Fleetwood Mac’ blues line-up. This includes Gregor Hilden, who since his debut album ‘Guitar Deluxe’ (1994) now has an enormous back catalogue of his own albums. In addition to his own compositions, there is at least one adaptation of a Green title on each of his albums.
Green title. So it's time to bring out this showcase of work with its own compilation on CD and double LP! In contrast to most other ‘tribute releases’, however, it was never Hilden's intention to play these pieces note for note, but always to add his own musical ingredients: Jazzy, rocky and soulful elements flow into it, acoustic impressions with Richie Arndt, atmospheric notes
with organist Wolfgang Roggenkamp - and many other interesting musicians that Hilden has worked with over the years.
Hilden has worked with over the years.
So here they are, the classics such as ‘Albatross’, ‘Man Of The World’, ‘Black Magic Woman’, ‘Oh Well’ from the ‘Mac phase’ through to the wonderful late works such as ‘Slabo Day’ - but also lesser-known pieces from Green's pen, which are shown to their best advantage here in Hilden's own arrangements - and are also perfectly suited to the Münster native.
Carefully remastered by the Pauler Mastering Studio in Northeim, this album is a varied feast for the ears. There will be complete Peter Green evenings live - Richie Arndt (voc. / git. with his band (Tim Zimmermann, drums and Sascha Oeing, b) will be at the start alongside Gregor Hilden (voc.git.)!
