A wise man once said, to put music into well written words was as impossible a task as expressing the enjoyment of an excellent menu properly in prose or rhyme. This fellow was, of course, perfectly right - but as with every rule, there are exceptions. For Isato Nakagawa’s music, you see, there can be easily found simple, but nonetheless perfect words: It is incredibly beautiful! This is in no way meant to be superficial: Nakagawa’s tremendous talent for clear, but strong and moving melody is responsible for the profound depth of his songs, giving them, however, such a light and airy touch at the same time as if they were conceived in zero gravity. This makes listening to Nakagawa really fascinating beyond words - the circle completes. Nakagawa’s musical vocabulary is amazing as well: being far less “easterly folkloristic” as one could expect from a Japanese guitarist, on “Dream Catcher” we encounter eastern and western traditions peacefully united in absolute balance and casualness.
