Olaf Tarenskeen is a revelation for the acoustic-guitar scene. This may sound quite self-confident but it's true nonetheless. Tarenskeen, who is still largely unknown in Germany, has succeeded in the admirable feat of picking up the tradition of the so-called "classical guitar" and leading it, even advancing it, in the direction of the next millennium. How does that go? On the one hand, Tarenskeen can rely on his profound classical training. This applies to his excellent technique, as well as his formal understanding of music. On the other hand, the Dutchman is a fantastic musical essayist. His compositions have wit, charm and depth. They are modern without being modernistic; they challenge the listener without asking too much; they imprint themselves deeply in the ears and don't just live from the present moment. If you have recently asked yourself what direction the acoustic guitar will probably take in the future, you will certainly find the right answer in Olaf Tarenskeen - and with this album once again top audiophile quality from the Acoustic Music Studio.
Press review
"This meeting of learned technique and the ability to fantasize and give shape produces dense, virtuosic rhythmically and melodically exciting compositions, one could even say essays." (Folker)
