Armin Heitz & Zigan Swing Trio - Voyage

The guitarist Armin Heitz is an exceptional figure in the German jazz guitar landscape. He knows, as no other, how to combine the charm of Gipsy swing in the great Django Reinhardt tradition with modern jazz guitarism as represented by Pat Martino, Joe Pass or Wes Montgomery. With his technique, bursting of energy and full of expression, Armin Heitz has long become one of the European guitar stylists. His co-musicians are Janosch Dörr on rhythm guitar (he plays out his rich chords with merciless momentum) and Zeca De Oliveira on bass (a 7-string guitar on which he lets driving walking lines fly as well as fiery solos). Guitarist colleague Martin Taylor remarked about this group: “The Zigan Swing Trio is the most refreshing jazz trio I have heard in a long time.”
