The classical guitarist Lucian Plessner has recorded a remarkable CD with "Folklore Virtuoso".
Classically trained virtuosity encounters folkloristic themes. The outcome is wonderful guitar music with totally unstrained virtuosity, romantic and full of temperament. "Folklore Virtuoso" consists of the "Canti Napoletani" (a cycle of arrangements by the Venezuelan guitarist Alirio Diaz), arrangements by the Argentinean guitarist and singer Eduardo Falú , and the "Canciones Populares Mexicanas" by Manuel Maria Ponce. "I met Alirio Diaz and Eduardo Falú at the age of nineteen and was fascinated by the two personalities. They tore me out of my academic world and gave me a feel for the immediate, primeval artist." Plessner today is an accomplished artist when it comes to performing the virtuosic folkloristic repertoire
