The competition for up-and-coming talent at the annual OPEN-STRINGS-FESTIVAL in Osnabrück is an important springboard for talented but as yet unknown guitarists. And the winner for 2001 was Stefan Lindenbauer. The Austrian guitarist (born 1976) studied classical guitar with Michael Langer and furthered his studies in master classes with other internationally renowned musicians, such as Roland Dyens. Nevertheless, Lindenbauer is no pure classicist. Augustin Barrios’ "La Catedral" exists side by side with Sting’s "It’s Probably Me"– a song that also lends its name to the title of this debut-CD. Other pieces were written by, among others, Michael Langer, Roland Dyens and Buster B. Jones. With the release of "It’s Probably Me" - a work that is remarkable for its diversity and its superior art of interpretation - Stefan Lindenbauer has made a most impressive debut.
