With his „Copy And Merge,“ Michael Langer, the so-called “crossover professor” from Vienna, has produced a recording that makes you sit up and listen in all respects. Langer’s subject matter is the music of Paul Simon, which has been with him right since his start. Playing nylon and steelstring guitar, and in duo with percussionist Stephan Maass, this Austrian musician has delivered an imaginative masterpiece, that once again gives evidence of his status as the world’s finest acoustic artist. Howard Morgan, one of the top US jazz guitarists and arrangers, contributed the transcription of “So Long Frank Lloyd Wright,” and proclaimed his enthusiasm for Michael Langer’s realization of the work: “I don’t think there is anyone who could have interpreted this arrangement with more subtlety and mastery than Michael Langer. The entire CD is balm for the ears.”
