The legend lives on! The best recordings from Kicking Mule Records
In the 1970s it was the label for guitarists. Kicking Mule Records, founded by Stefan Grossman, the pioneer of the folk-blues movement, offered a musical home to the finest fingerpickers of the day. Now, 35 years later, we are proud to revive this great tradition by re-releasing these historic recordings in a special series.
With this album, Stefan Grossman and Rory Block created a tribute to their musical mentors Mississippi John Hurt, Reverend Gary Davis, Son House and Robert Johnson. Earthy country blues which oozes feeling and groove, recorded between 1963 and 1971. As well as 32 classic tunes the CD contains a remarkable replica of the original tutor "How to play Blues Guitar" von Stefan Grossman as a PDF file.
