Joachim Raffel Quartet - Pieces & Pictures

Ever since the early 90s, pianist and composer Joachim Raffel has steadily evolved into one of the most interesting personalities of German and European jazz. The ensemble with which he has recorded his seventh album, “Pieces & Pictures“, underscores the European character of his opus. This album once again reveals the extraordinarily exciting, multilayered quality in Raffel‘s work: In his mature and personal style, influences from the blues, modern jazz, improvised music and world music find their way to suggestions of classical and contemporary music. For pieces like “Radio Dreams“ and „Eye Song“, Raffel even coined the term “pop imaginaire“. A wonderful band backs him in turning his visions into reality by creating for the listener and explorer a new-sounding, enduring listening experience that produce many exciting moments.
