When TV star Götz Alsmann remarks that singer and blues harp specialist Matt Walsh has an almost unsurpassable “feeling for music and body, refinement and purity”, then it says a great deal about the musicality of the Irish artist who has made a home for himself in Münster. It’s no surprise that his last Acoustic Music production, “Under Suspicion”, won the 2007 German Record Critics’ prize.
On the follow-up album, “Part Of Me”, Matt Walsh once again returns to his successful concept of playing the blues in his very special manner, by skillfully combining them with sounds from the Latin American tradition. And he is supported by a skilled quartet, allowing him, as the band leader with a resonant voice and a sensitive style on the blues harp, to work his magic. It makes “A Part Of Me” one of the most entertaining albums for all occasions: from the party soundtrack, to the audiophiliac savoring of music at home.
