Mehmet Evren Hacıoğlu - Kışlar lâl oldu

Mehmet Evren Hacıoğlu, born in 1982, is currently one of the most important and well-known contemporary musicians in Turkey. And he is also considered a representative of the age-old tradition of Turkish folk music. 

On his album “Kışlar lâl oldu” (“Winter Has Fallen Silent”), he follows the tradition of Anatolian folklore and Turkish folk music using a stringent style and virtuoso technique. Hacıoğlu, in a moving and impressive manner, introduces his listeners musically to Alevi poetry, to boisterous warrior dances of the Aegean, to thrilling folk dances, traditional rituals praising god, colorful love stories and fascinating epics of heroes. “Kışlar lâl oldu” is a musical event of a very special kind: all the works are performed live, as required by tradition, and they are improvised and sung – it’s a very recommendable acoustic snapshot of a young and very promising artist.
