Ray Austin from Halifax, born 1943 in Yorkshire, emigrated to Freiburg (Black Forest), Germany in 1970 and founded the local Folk & Blues Club – 1973 started touring as singer/songwriter and released 5 LPs.
In the 80s he continued touring, ran a music-pub and also worked presenting music shows on German radio & TV. Today he plays jazz trumpet with two jazz bands and Country-Folk-Rock-Blues with his “Friends”.
The latest CD “A Piece of Heaven” is largely a hommage to some of his favourite songwriters such as John Prine, Ralph McTell or Bert Jansch and contains seventeen songs including four of his own.
