Musical Journey Round The World
Small wonder that one of today´s finest guitar duos met in Dresden. A study course in this eastern German city is supposed to do away with all geographic and stylistic barriers on six strings. Reentko Dirks and Daniel Wirtz, already raised on the music of such free thinkers as Egberto Gismonti, John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny, and the Beatles, were taught by professor (and guitarist of the reknowned Friend ´n Fellow duo) Thomas Fellow how to explore all the potential of the guitar on the highest level possible. In the brilliant and ultratransparent interplay of their duo for contemporary music, particularly from Latin America, it is classical discipline that wonderfully blends with a southern temperament and complex harmonies to make for a captivating musical journey round the world, through fiery flamenco, cool jazz, wistful gypsy sounds, strict European structures, and Amazon wilderness.
