After the first two highly acclaimed CDs/LPs by the Gregor Hilden Organ trio, "New Boogaloo" is now the third album, which, in addition to subtle, intimate, blues-jazz sounds, funky grooves and a lot of carefully carefully and elaborately produced tracks!

Studio technology was used intensively to refine the sound spectrum with various guitar tracks to refine the sound spectrum. Bandleader and producer Gregor Hilden demonstrates a fine hand for delicate arrangements, in which electric and electric and acoustic guitars with elegant solos as well as rugged riffs on various vintage instruments.
Half of the tracks are written by Hilden himself - mostly co-compositions by Hilden and organist Wolfgang Roggenkamp, who can also be heard singing on two of the songs. Guest musicians such as saxophonist Volker Winck, trumpeter Christian Kappe and the famous vocalist Soleil Niklasson add color and variety to the exciting mix of blues, R&B, funk - and a good dose of rock!

With "I Don't Want You No More", the memory of the "Allman Brothers" is commemorated. Gregor Hilden then makes the transition with a typically beguiling blues ballad "Bluesy Mood". Then it's back to the 1960s with their own arrangement of the boogaloo classic "Hot Barbeque". "Grandma's Hands", sung by Roggenkamp, is gospel-oriented, including unbridled jamming from the band, before the acid-jazz "Clubbing" takes the listener to a New York club.   The guest appearance of singer Soleil Niklasson on "In The Skies" is then brilliant and takes on completely new colors.  The guitars sound wonderfully silky and harmonize perfectly with the vocalist. Incidentally, an instrumental version of this number can also be found as a bonus track on the vinyl double LP!

"Kickin' In", Wolfgang Roggenkamp flies over the keys of his vintage Hammond that it is a joy.  "Way Back Home" captures the spontaneous inspiration of the performers.

Gregor Hilden is also active as a singer from time to time, here with the Mose Allison tune "Going To The City" - in classic swing style. Things get really funky on the title track "New Boogaloo": drums, "Don't Let The Green Grass Fool" you then ensure a good mood, sung excellently by Roggenkamp.  A complex ballad from his own pen ("Blue Notes From The Island"), with lively guitar and organ parts, leaves the listener feeling dreamy. A musical surprise at the end. In this case, it's "Dr. Alban's" disco hit "Sing Hallelujah" of all things - and is heard here in a completely original version.
