David Tanenbaum - Pavane

David Tanenbaum is known in the world of classical guitar music as an interpreter of contemporary music. His speciality is the "new repertoire" of composers who create an entirely new universe of sound for the guitar. His CD “Pavane“ reveals an entirely new side to him. The repertoire on this recording consists of works by Ravel, Debussy and Satie. He wrote some of the transcriptions himself, others are by experts of the stamp of Roland Dyens, Jack Marshall, or Christopher Parkening. The music here is of fragile beauty and serene elegance, perfectly intoned and played with great calm as well as power. In the hands of such a masterful player as Tanenbaum, the guitar evolves all its beauty and romance. “Pavane“ is a wonderful documentation of the gentle and harmonious side of the guitarist David Tanenbaum.
