John Goldie - A Little Of What You Fancy

The Scottish acoustic guitar player – and durable insider tip – John Goldie is not an unknown figure on the guitar scene. He is often seen in smaller jazz ensembles, for example, with Martin Taylor. His musical basis appears to be jazz and folk. His rock classic videos reveal the fact that he is also at home in rock and pop music, but that is not all.

With his current CD, “A Little Of What You Fancy”, he is turning back musically to his youth, playing arrangements of Johnny Cash, Disco Queen, Abba, George Harrison and others. Some might even frown and wonder what has gotten into this nice Scotsman. But it fits, everything comes together wonderfully, and one wonders why disco music wasn’t always played on the guitar. With his new album, John Goldie once again demonstrates how multifaceted our favorite instrument can be.
