Markus Segschneider's fourth album from Acoustic Music is called "Sketchbook". Alongside varied compositions of his own in his seasoned manner, it also includes, for the first time, three imaginative adaptations of selected compositions by others. The album also contains two titles with discrete overdubs that shed more light on Segschneider's jazzy side.
A number of pieces on "Sketchbook" have already been tested for their effect at numerous live concerts before they were finally recorded in the studio, such as the ultimate concert-opener "Chatting With Sim", the song remembering Jerry Reed called "The Skipped Beat" and the mysterious "Sand Drift", the harmonies of which are reminiscent of composers such as Ravel and Bartók. Each work creates its own world and thus lends an enormous variety to this new album.
