These two guitarists, Claus Boesser-Ferrari and Adax Dörsam, have taken a close look – with great care and respect – at a soundtrack from their childhood, the melodies from the “Winnetou” films, based on the Western written by Germany’s nineteenth-century author, Karl May.
They more or less arranged these “classics” one-to-one for two guitars, but they also improvised variations and wrote some original pieces in the spirit of the template works. As a result, they managed to bridge the gap to a playful path when interpreting these classical musical monuments. Boesser-Ferrari and Dörsam have made a mark in the quantized and optimized world of music: They recorded Martin Böttcher’s best pieces live and together in a manner that is breezy and free of all conventions. Rather than work with separate tracks and lots of cutting and pasting, they surprise the listener with exciting communication and the spirit of two contrasting personalities. The album bristles with excitement.
“… I was glad to hear your recordings of my Karl May music. What I found especially beautiful were the sensitively played melodies. So I’d like to wish your production lots of success and remain yours, truly, Martin Böttcher.”
