To claim that Steve Baker plays “just” the harp would amount to a double or even triple insult. For one thing, the English-born Baker has been playing his small instrument on countless productions in his new German home since the 70s. Furthermore, as a longtime advisor for the world´s largest manufacturer, he has helped refine its design and building. And last but not least, in long-time duos (like the one with late guitar genius Chris Jones), in blues combos (50 performances a year with the Abi Wallenstein Blues Band alone), and even big bands, Baker as a musician has made harpplaying into a veritable, and versatile, form of art. His inobtrusive soundscapes, catchy riffs, powerful fill-ins, and howling solos full of taste, skill, and groove are keeping him in high demand wherever real good handmade music is performed or recorded.
