The duo made up of guitarist Frank Fröhlich and pianist Michael Henkel has been around since 1990. Since that time they have given over 200 concerts in Germany and Austria. It comes as no surprise then that their musical dialogue is shaped by a powerful stringency and compactness. "It's
obvious that they're having a lot of fun with their ommunication," the 'Freie Presse' wrote in a concert review. And it is precisely this combination of intoxicatingly joyful playing, this profound interconnection of musical persona, and excitingly virtuoso performance that colors the atmosphere of the duo's production. On 'Überfahrt' the two players combine their different types of string to create tableaux so full of fantasy and powerful sonorities that they sweep the listener along with them. Inspiration for their compositions is often taken from the visual arts and literature. The light flow of their music is ever-present and
simultaneously contains a sly, mischievous element and the occasional deep engrossment. These are the two poles upon which the spectrum of their expression rest and which, as revealed on this CD as well as in their concerts, always impresses their audiences.
