Music lovers will surely have fond memories of Florian Poser's duo and trio ensembles, as well as his Brazilian Experience. The vibraphone and marimba player is considered an expert in his field and is also highly regarded as a composer. This time, he is backed up by the jazz guitarist Martin Flindt, who has picked up many accolades as a skilled guitarist in a variety of ensembles, and as a theater musician and band leader of his own Flindt's Tones.
On their Acoustic Music production, "Crossing Minds," these two accomplished musicians divulge their very special way of interpreting and modulating jazz out of American mainstream, modern fusion and European techniques. Seldom has an instrumental duo formation made highly sophisticated instrumental jazz sound so relaxed. "Crossing Minds" is a perfect title for the excellent work of two musicians, who not only seem to think the same way, but also feel intuitively alike in the process of creating wonderful instrumental music.

Attila Zoller and Helmut Kagerer met in 1988 in Munich at the “Blue Note” jazz club. It was the beginning of a long-standing friendship and musical cooperation. With their guitar duo, launched in the 1990s, they toured Europe and the USA. The two musicians can be identified thanks to their highly individual “signal tone” on the guitar, which is best described as “warm and singing”. The colorful and imaginatively varied motives of the collective improvisation on “Common Language”, mostly on compositions by Zoller, was recorded by the Bavarian Radio in its Nuremberg studios in 1995. The two solo works represent an atmospheric change – “’Round Midnight“ was recorded live at the duo’s last concert in 1998 in New York’s Zinc Bar and “Dreambells“, live recorded at Neuburg a.d. Donau - each work reveals a different technical approach to the solo guitar.

“Pop up Jazz!” For their first album together, singer Sabine Kühlich and guitarist Adam Rafferty have chosen an artistic direction which guarantees great entertainment value. Kühlich hails from Gera in Eastern Germany, whence her musical studies at various different colleges finally led her to New York. On “girl meets guitar” she hooks up with Harlem-born guitar maestro Rafferty, who has earned an excellent reputation as a versatile performer of American roots music and jazz standards. Whether it's Paul Simon's chart-topping “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover”, the Eurythmics' new wave hit “Sweet Dreams” or Bill Withers' R&B anthem “Ain't No Sunshine”: Rafferty's creative accompaniments and Sabine Kühlich's sensual vocal timbre lend all of them a new and original character, taking them into the sophisticated realms of jazz, which in this constellation really doesn't require any more than “girl meets guitar”.

Acoustic guitar (White) meets his electric counter-part (Black), Black and White feel that they are ideally suited to each other, and decide therefore spontaneously to produce a CD. What's the result? A fascinating black and white image, as the title says, which could certainly fit in the "fusion" drawer between Metheny and Scofield, but which has also clinched itself a topmost rank thanks to its intimate and unusual pairing up. Anyone with some imagination might have thought that this was – or at least resembled – the genesis of this, and they would not have been so far off the mark. It was not Mr. White and Mr. Black, of course, but acoustic virtuoso Uwe Kropinski and his equally impressive colleague John Stowell on electric guitar who met for a tête-à-tête in the studio. The rest, especially where the music is concerned, is absolutely true.

Concerning Michael’s long-standing duo work with his pianistic partner Christoph Spendel, indeed a kind of post-modern mirror-image of this guitarist, one can rightly say: This tandem has never been boring, never been uninteresting. Both men master their duo constellation - which, as is known, is not free of many risks - with a balance between sensible arrangement and the varied and surprising utilization of free space for improvisation. They avoid no challenge and steer clear of all pitfalls with an unerring sense for style.

That’s what Pat Metheny said about Uwe Kropinski: "He knocked me out. I don't think l've ever been so impressed with a solo-guitar performance as with this. I was totally impressed and amazed with his musicality, his innovation, and his deep relationship with the instrument. He uses the guitar in a way l've never heard it used, and with an amazing variety of things, a great sound and really just a very original voice."

Geoff Goodman and Chris Hirson paths' crossed for the first time during their high-school days in New York. Back then, they played guitar and piano. After turbulent musical years, the two of them ran into each other again in 1977. Chris Hinson had in the meantime switched over to the saxophone - the soprano saxophone, to be more precise. This was a fateful meeting since it sealed the future of the Goodman/Hirson duo. At the beginning of the Eighties, the two Americans moved to Freiburg, Germany, finally landing in Munich in 1986. Their first record production, Hirson & Goodman, followed one year later, meeting with the high same degree of enthusiasm from both the critics and the public. Further CD productions followed as well as successful tours throughout all of Europe.

"When The Moment Sings" offers a broad repertoire of jazz standards, original compositions and individual interpretations of songs by Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Christopher Cross. Singer Medeiros glows with her dark, expressive voice, and interprets the songs with emotional intensity and charisma. She has the rare ability of acquainting the listener with a song in anarrational style and of interpreting it in a perfectly individual manner. Michael Sagmeister conjures a wide range of musical colors from his instrument, creative chords and, naturally, the well-known bouncing and perfectly constructed solo lines.

After his bebop and fusion phase, the German star guitarist Michael Sagmeister has now proven by means of several releases with ACOUSTIC MUSIC RECORDS, that he is also an outstanding acoustic guitarist with his own lyrical musical language. And here again, there is something new to discover – the sensitive accompanist, whose incomparable background guitar work allows the supple voice of the singer Britta Medeiros to reach new heights. The musical color, the grooves, the inventive chords and the peppering of solo lines that this master achieves with his nylon-string guitar is of the highest international level. “The Way We Feel About It” is a very individual collection of standards, bossa-novas, pop songs and own compositions that reveal entirely new facets of this high-quality and intimate pairing. You may wonder what happens when the Italian actor and singer Camillo D’Ancona and the German jazz guitarist Michael Sagmeister team up. Well, the result is a CD full of wonderfully light music fluctuating between jazz, bossa nova and pop. These two men have been friends for over 20 years and have already produced their first CD together, "Primo Passo". Camillo D’Ancona’s Mediterranean temperament and Sagmeister’s at times explosive, at times ingratiating guitar create a harmonic connection. On the team, too, are amongst others, Sagmeister’s long-standing companions Michael Küttner, Thomas Heidepriem and Christoph Spendel. Press review "To venture a symbiosis of Italian canzoni and European-American fusion jazz – mission accomplished! ... at times electric, at times acoustic, or even on occasion played with the guitar synthesizer, all this makes 'Dedicato' a delight for the fans and the newcomers to the high art of the Italian song – truly delicato!" (Body and Mind)
