Your guitar is alive –  you already knew that, so we're not telling you anything new. But are you aware of the fact that your guitar breathes? Especially during the cold months, heating air dries out your favourite instrument, resulting in cracks, damages to the paintwork, and expensive repairs. But too much dampness is also damaging: the wood can swell, causing the guitar to become deformed.
Your guitar feels best at an air humidity of 45 to 65 %. A hygrometer reliably shows you when action must be taken.

Especially in winter, many guitars built of solid woods are damaged by dry air from central heating systems. If the wood dries out, this can result in cracks, particularly in the case of tops made of soft woods such as spruce. An acoustic guitar humidifier to hang inside the sound hole helps avoid unpleasant surprises here by protecting your valuable instrument from damage through drying out. The humidifier dispenses a controlled amount of water vapour evenly to the instrument.

This humidifier ensures a constant moisture content in the air of between 45 and 50 per cent. The system was developed by Planet Waves in cooperation with Humidipak and ensures that maintaining the right humidity is not left to chance. In contrast to other humidifiers, the Humidipak provides genuine double moisture control by independently increasing or decreasing the quantity of moisturising fluid released into the air. In order to provide your beloved instrument with lasting protection from cracks in the top, it’s advisable to store the guitar in its case with the humidifier hung inside the sound hole.
