Rhythm Shaw - Opening Act

With youthful jauntiness, the nineteen-year old Indian guitar player with the programmatic name Rhythm Shaw dances along the strings of his steelstring as if there were no musical limits.

Shaw is a musical cosmopolite, whose openness to various musical currents is echoed in his debut album Opening Act. It has everything, from a tribute to Tommy Emmanuel, to compositions with Latin American hues, pieces revealing influences from his home country, acrobatically bravura chord sequences, and atmospheric dreaminess, all the way to breakneck fast tunes in standard and open tunings … There's not much missing here.
