Ulas Hazar, who was born in 1977 in eastern Turkey and now lives in southern Germany, grew up with the saz. His fiery play was kindled by a visit to a concert with Paco de Lucia, who still has an influence on his music to this day.
What’s special about Ulas’s music is his individual mix of eastern and western music, a combination of traditional sounds from his homeland and flamenco, jazz and occidental classical music. On his album “Virtuoso”, traditional Turkish music casually shares space with music of Mozart, Paganini, Chick Corea or flamenco pieces.
Together with his congenial colleague Rafael Cortes on the flamenco guitar, Ulas Hazar has produced a superior album.
As a bonus track, there is a video in which one can enjoy Ulas Hazar in action.
