Gitarrissima - Melange

“Gitarrissima” consists of five young female guitarists who met in Vienna. The quintet plays arrangements for a highly interesting instrumentation of three concert, one octave and one bass guitar and produces a sound with a special richness of color and a seldom heard orchestral density. “Gitarrissima” stands for woven miniatures and for string dances full of grace, playfulness and rhythmic concentration. “Melange” offers a broad repertoire, with works by Bach, Rossini, Franz Schubert, Chopin, Brahms, Vittorio Monti and Astor Piazzolla. The arrangements of concertos, songs and piano works are convincing thanks to the balance of the voices and their airy transparency, the unusual instrumentation offers up entirely new musical accents.
