Acoustic pop? Alternative rock? Reggae? Latin? This musician from Stralsund is familiar with all sorts of genres. Detlef Bunk, who graduated from the Carl Maria von Weber Academy in Dresden, demonstrates his stylistic versatility, musical competence and harmonic creativity in a wide range of different projects: as a guitar teacher and a skilled author of various guitar instruction manuals, as an organizer of the International Guitar Festival in Dresden, and naturally as a solo artist.
With “Red Dress”, Detlef Bunk has added another instrumental album with his own compositions to his discography, an album featuring a delectable mix of the most varied stylistic orientations: Solo guitar works with Celtic influence, poetic ballads, captivating fingerstyle instrumentals and oriental musical sketches. The album has additional originality and a great deal of sonorous charisma thanks to many arrangements using a variety of instruments that are suitably staged by the sound master and co-musician Erik Kross. This makes “Red Dress” an amusing, lively and very entertaining feast for the ear, and reveals this congenial Dresdner’s broadly fashioned personality.
