Paulo Bellinati / Cristina Azuma - Pingue Pongue

This duo presents a musical conversation at the highest level, with a light hand, and with the kind of dancing, rhythmic feeling that is so much a part of Brazilian culture. Bellinati’s authentic 1935 violão de seresta with steel strings and Azuma’s classical nylon string guitar resound in an enticing dialogue that clearly inspired these two artists to give the CD the title: Ping Pong.

What they play is the classical repertoire of Brazilian dances: the first chôros of Honorino Lopes, which are over 100 years old, a samba by Garoto, or even Bellinati’s  “Jongo”, a classic of contemporary duo repertoire.
