The North German Broadcasting Corporation's recording is a scintillating production where musicality and sound are concerned: a “home game” at the legendary “Fabrik” in Hamburg by the local guitarist and film music composer Uli Kringler with his trio and a group of six guest musicians.

It's an exciting musical road movie in film length (72 minutes).

In this set of original compositions and arrangements, Woody Mann pays homage to his teacher Rev. Gary Davis, the legendary Blues, Ragtime and Gospel guitarist.

Mann takes the Reverends music and creates an artful original masterpiece that captures the essence of Davis’ musical depth but never imitates. From the classical sounding “Requiem” and the spontaneous solo improvisation of “Have Mercy” to the swinging duet version of “There’s Destruction in this Land”, Mann shows us how well he learned those lessons in the Reverends living room when he was a teenager. New York bassist Brian Glassman joins him for the duets. Woody’s incredible fingerstyle technique is perhaps only outdone by his ability to compose and arrange. He eloquently sets each song with stunning harmonic and melodic phrasing and cool dynamics and rhythmic groove. Although his roots start in the ragtime blues of Rev. Gary Davis, he has internalized so many different genres that he can draw from several styles and techniques within a single song and blend them in a way that is more than the sum of its parts, it is a style all his own.

The first 50 orders will get their CD handsigned by MIchael Fix!

Michael Fix once had this to say about himself: "My music reflects the ups and downs that are part of life." This album is definite proof of that.

The Heart Has Reasons is a highly emotional album and a musical milestone that came at the start of an exciting career in music. His first CD was released in 1996 by ABC Music. In 2004, it was brilliantly remastered. We have now made this version available. Michael's execution is technically impeccable, virtuosic, full of musical imagination and marked by a perfect sense of rhythm. It's obvious already in this early recording of his own compositions, which are full of feelings and energy.

At the age of 16, the Austrian guitarist Julian Kleiss won the international guitar competition Open Strings in 2006. In 2008 he won the Austrian Newcomer Award and is presently studying at the California Institute of the Arts. With "Birth of the Chameleon", Julian Kleiss is now presenting his debut album on Acoustic Music Records. Modern finger-style, played on a nylon-string with his own compositions and adaptations of pieces by Buck Wolters, Don Ross and Michael Jackson.

With "Spirited Chameleon" alone, Kleiss shows the entire range of his ability to achieve musical transformations. Percussive playing on the whole body of the guitar,  rocky, funky grooves and differentiated tappings alternate with fine bass lines supporting a gentle melodic line and playfully interspersed harmonics. The entire album is as self-contained as the first title - at times demanding and driving as in  "How Are Our Orders Doing?", at other times dreamlike and playful as in "Naps Are Nice". In his adaptations of pieces by other musicians, Kleiss shows that he can effortlessly unite the various instrumental parts on just one guitar and, with "Tight Trite Night", the listener has to be careful that his/her ears are fast enough to be able to follow Kleiss's fingers.

One can surely expect a great deal from a man whose playing won over listeners even years prior to his guitar studies. With "Birth of the Chameleon", Julian Kleiss utterly fulfils these expectations.

With his new album at Acoustic Music Records, "My African Heart", Cox, who has won the South African Music award several times, reveals his understanding of world music: On these twelve tracks, this master of the guitar, together with a number of guest musicians, reveals his very personal and incomparable musical and formal expression through a performance filled with African joie de vivre, rhythmic pyrotechnics and a percussive, yet pleasantly relaxed fingerstyle guitar. Tony Cox, a white African from Kapstadt, released an outstanding album here with a great deal of charisma. It combines the exotic magic of Africa with American and European technique.

These two sought and then found each other: A fingerstyler and a flatpicker discovered their common love of roots music. Hallawell and Robin Kessinger, both from the USA, were experienced soloists and coveted workshop instructors, who had already scored numerous successes at famous competitions. Together, they rearranged profound compositions giving them a new and clear melodic language by intuitively complementing each other on their instruments and seamlessly switching harmonic and melodic lines back and forth. With traditionals, ragtime, swing, bluegrass and ballads, this duo demonstrates broad knowledge of the repertoire and surefooted stylistic expression in great instrumentals like the moving and beautiful "Eleanor," the thrilling Scott Joplin classic "Maple Leaf Rag," or the Irish traditional "Harvest Home." “Ear Candy" is exactly what these two guitar masters have produced, a delightful listening experience at the highest technical level, filled with palpable joy at playing and offering sprightly arrangements.

For over ten years already, this nylon-string duo has been proving that in the field of top-level guitar-playing, standards, seriousness and the relaxed joy of playing are not mutually exclusive. These two graduates from the Conservatory of Music of Dresden have applied intuitive harmony, fascinating technique and impressive dynamism to define their own individual style, which is situated between modern classical, South American music and contemporary jazz. Until now, their albums were marked mainly by “duologue”, but with their new work, Nassler & Schneider have fulfilled a long-coveted dream: To expand their acoustic cosmos with creative instrumentalists who enrich their performance with piano, percussion, soprano saxophone, cajon, calimba and double bass, in order to set “intensive states of mind, travel impressions and split-second images of everyday life” to music. The result is a colorful album full of surprises, which, on the one hand, one can listen to seriously, or just as easily let oneself be carried away with the sheer pleasure of it.

“Oltre Il Mare” provides us with insight into the wonderful musical world of Stefano Mirandola.

This Italian musician is a nylon string acoustic guitarist, whose atmospheric repertoire ranges from sweet melancholy to driving rhythms. After beginning with classical music, Mirandola studied with US jazz stars such as Pat Metheny and Jim Hall, and he concertized with the “Acoustic Guitar Duo” at festivals throughout Europe. Nowadays, Mirandola moves in the world of flamenco and Brazilian music. His broad sense of imagination is evidenced by 11 own compositions on “Oltre Il Mare” and an original version of Chick Corea’s classic “La Fiesta”. Stefano Mirandola creates an organic amalgamation of sound from classical, jazz, flamenco, Brazilian and ethnic music based on a fully developed technique and a natural joy at experimenting with new sounds.
